ℹ️ About Balancer
About Balancer Balancer is a decentralized automated market maker (AMM) protocol built on Ethereum and select EVM-compatible chains, enabling permissionless creation of multi-token liquidity pools with customizable weights.
The protocol allows liquidity providers to earn yield from swap fees while retaining token exposure, offering a flexible building block for DeFi composability, DAO treasury management, and on-chain portfolio rebalancing.
Balancer v3 introduced a modular architecture separating pool logic from core vault infrastructure, enabling developers to deploy custom AMM logic with institutional-grade security primitives and gas-efficient batch swaps.
BAL token holders govern the protocol via veBAL vote-escrowed governance, directing liquidity incentives, fee parameters, and protocol upgrades in a fully decentralized model.
Following a $128M smart contract exploit in November 2024 and the subsequent shutdown of Balancer Labs in March 2026, the protocol has transitioned to community-governed operations managed by the Balancer Foundation and independent service providers.
Balancer remains one of DeFi's most composable AMM platforms, providing open-source infrastructure for liquidity applications, yield optimization, and multi-chain token trading.
